PRP stimulates hair follicles and promotes hair growth

Our team has many years of experience in PRP hair treatments — we have performed over 2,000 of these procedures.

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is a completely natural procedure that utilises growth factors harvested from your own body to stimulate follicles and encourage new hair to grow. PRP is an effective method of stimulating recently transplanted hair follicles, and can also be used to complement an existing hair loss medication regime.

The blood in our body is in constant circulation, ensuring that all the cells in our body are provided with nutrients and oxygen. Blood is mostly liquid, but also has many cells and proteins suspended in it. Plasma is a liquid that makes up about half of the content of our blood. Plasma contains antibodies and transports nutrients including salts, proteins, and enzymes through the body. It also contains platelets, which in turn contain growth factors that are responsible for repairing damage and injuries in the body.

PRP is derived from this plasma and the platelets it contains. The growth factors within the platelets contain the proteins and growth factors needed to stimulate hair follicle growth, increase circulation to hair follicles and decrease the inflammation that accelerates hair loss.

What should I expect at the consultation?

If you are struggling with thinning hair or hair loss, and are interested in undergoing PRP hair treatment, we recommend that you come in for a personal consultation. This will give you the chance to ask any questions you might have about the process, and ensure that the treatment is right for you.

How does the procedure work?

First, we will start the process by cleansing the scalp and applying a numbing agent to ensure that you don’t feel any pain during the treatment. We will then draw a small amount of blood from your arm. This blood is then placed into a centrifuge to separate out the blood components and produce the PRP. This solution is then injected or otherwise infused into the areas of hair loss.

Because PRP effectively uses a product from your own body, it is completely safe and is highly effective for both men and women in the early stages of hair loss. All of our treatments are performed in a sterile, clinical environment by our highly trained and experienced team.

By harnessing the growth factors within the blood and then delivering a concentrated dose to the affected scalp and hair follicles, the follicles are stimulated to grow hair. The follicles that are in the resting phase (known as telogen) may be urged into growth, and this will appear as new hair growth.

PRP is a complete system designed to deliver an increased concentration of bioactive factors and proteins. Each step of the process has been optimised to ensure the quality and efficacy of the product, so patients experience maximum regenerative results. We use only PRP approved materials, as substituting normal blood collecting tubes or different anticoagulants can alter the PH and behaviour of the final product.

What can the treatment be used for?

PRP treatment can be used for:

  • Slowing the rate of hair loss
  • Stimulating regrowth of thinning hair so that it becomes thicker and fuller
  • Enhancing the scalp’s health and condition
  • Preparation of the scalp for hair transplantation
  • Supporting hair transplantation post-op
  • The treatment of various skin and scalp conditions including a dry, itchy and inflamed scalp

How long does recovery take?

Patients will be able to return to normal activities after the treatment. Because the treatment involves the use of your own cells, there is very little risk of infection.

How much does the treatment cost?

Our PRP treatments for hair loss start at $400 per session with our specialist PRP team.
