What should I expect at the consultation?
If you would like to have a skin issue, like pigmentation or wrinkles, treated with laser therapy, we recommend that you come in for a personal consultation before committing to the Fraxel DUAL treatment. This will give you the opportunity to raise any questions or concerns you might have about the procedure to ensure that it is the right treatment for your particular needs. We will also perform a thorough skin evaluation and advise you on the number of treatments you require. We offer a range of skin treatments so we will let you know if Fraxel DUAL is the best option, which will depend on the overall condition of your skin and your expectations.
How does the Fraxel DUAL process work?
Prior to undergoing the treatment, the skin will be cleansed before a tropical anaesthetic ointment is applied to the treatment area. The ointment is usually applied around 60 minutes before treatment. The Fraxel DUAL procedure takes around 20 to 25 minutes to complete a full face.
The Fraxel DUAL laser treatment targets areas of the skin that has been affected by either ageing or sun damage. Microscopic laser columns are penetrated deep into the skin which assists with the remodelling of the collagen.
As a result of the laser only treating a small area of tissue at a time, none of the surrounding areas of tissue are affected allowing for rapid healing.
Generally, most patients describe an increased sensation of heat during the treatment. To minimize the heat and discomfort, the tropical anaesthetic is applied as well as cold air being used on the treatment area throughout the procedure. Post-treatment, some patients may feel like they have been affected by sunburn. This usually diminishes within 1 to 3 hours.
What can the treatment be used for?
Many patients seek the Fraxel DUAL treatment to correct sun-damaged, pigmented and aged skin. To achieve desired results, clinical studies suggest that an effective treatment regimen is around 3 to 5 sessions that are spaced out between 2 to 4 weeks. Treatment sessions can be spaced out further depending on the condition of the skin and your schedule.
Fraxel DUAL can be used to treat a range of skin conditions, including:
- Sun Damage
- Fine Lines & Wrinkles
- Surface Scaring
- Actinic Keratosis (AK)
- Enlarged Pores

It is important that you protect your skin from the sun and avoid harsh products during this time. Use a gentle cleansing product to wash your face, and apply a moisturiser twice daily.

• Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen ( SPF 30 +)
• Avoid any direct sun exposure for at least 3 months after treatment
